WTB: Ignition and key

Post by Bluebird_U »

Hi I'm after an ignition and key for a Datsun Cherry. Looking on line it seems that one from a B210, B310, 620, 720, N10 pulsar or Sunny from the late 70's to mid 80's might fit.

The one that I have (don't know if its original or not) has Off/Acc/On/Start, 5 plug connectors to the wiring harness (one screw holding it in) at the rear and the drum is 34mm diameter and about 87mm long. The clamp for the steering column is 34mm diameter as well, and between the drum and column is about 40mm in length.

I have attached picture for reference. Thanks for your time.

R3spct, Yeah I went for a general look and got carried away - now just got to fix all the little things that are missing. Those locks look sweet, but at the moment I'm trying to get it going on a budget.

tlssuny - that would be great thanks, the screw holds the plug to the casing, but if all else is the same it should be good.

DATTY12 - thanks for that. I'm hoping that the legendary datsun parts bin works on this one.

I have checked the dimensions but they seem slightly different to yours sorry.

Barrel length from front of Barrel to the plug is 90mm
Bracket diameter for shaft is 40mm
Barrel to shaft bracket is 115mm
Ignition plug configuration is 3 x horizontal pins at the top and 2 x horizontal pins underneath on LHS.
Plug is held on by 1 screw.

Not sure if you can make this work or not?

Thanks for that DATY12. Looks like it will stick too far out of the column surround and the steering is too large. If there nothing out there closer I might just have to get an ignition then drill out the pins holding the tumblers and swap them over.
