Torbs S110

Post by Ivan »

Some of you guys may know that my mate owns a mint S110 Datsun. I was driving it around as a daily last year when my Datsun was off the road. His S110 has been off the road as it failed a wof for rust. Which he has now fixed. He was going to keep it original but now wants to give the L18 a bit more "GO" (I wanted to chuck in my old L26 in to it) He was looking in to an SR20 and I told him to F@#K off. He didn't want the L18 as they are so gutless. I'm sure his L18 have dish piston's and I have a set of flattop L28 piston's that I got off Gman. So we where thinking we are going the bore out his block to suit the L28 flattop piston's. (Only a 1mm over bore) Run twin webers, Headers and get a cam regrind. I think he would be more than happy with that.

No way! No FJ, SR, RB,ETC going in here. He did look in to getting a L20 (4 banger) But we didn't find one. I think playing with the L18 is the best option at this stage, Best power over cost. Any other motor/gear box is going to cost big $$$$ and changing things to suit and then cert. Its not worth it, Torb already has an turbo powered RB S13 Silvia.

That is Awesome, I wouldn't want to be in his S110 with a motor like that, For some reason his LSD like's to kick the cars ass end out even with the lack in power, Had it happen a few time I was driving it. Funny thing I wasn't even trying to "drift" it, just driving like I would with my RS4 or my R32 lol.

Yes fj all the way but do you have a spare one? The 2.3 or 2.4 is a cheep and easy option the rally car boys love them.

indeed the L18 in Torbs car has the fuel injection and is a dog of a system I think doing the carbs, cam, headers etc will make the L18 go a lot better. Remember he's on a budget here. There is no need to spend tons of money to make a car go a little quicker.I took Karl for a spin after I put my L28 together first thing he said "goes a lot harder than L28 with fuel injection" At that stage I only had unturned carbs, Headers and exhaust. I do think a 280z does weigh more an a 260c to be fair. But the key here is to make the engine breath better
