The Y passed its re-reg! Have been cruising out to the beach and will be off to 4's and rotars on the 22nd in Fielding.

Gear box defiantly needs a freshen up and so does the whiney diff... Anyone rebuilt these? How difficult is it?

Few photos...

To be honest, I'd suggest looking for an H165 from a 1200 ute. They fit with minimal trouble, and are plenty stronger than the standard diffs. If you bide your time you'll be able to find a 3.9:1 ratio for it too.
The stock diffs aren't known for their longevity when used hard.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

Ended up taking the car to 4 and rotarys jamboree in Fielding. Good crowd and lot of people looking.

Am in need of sorting the diff issue out, where can you buy new bearings from?

Small updates on Y. Has been driving ok, cant work out why it runs rough after tune and new points, cap, rotor, leads, ballist and tappets set.

We think the cam chain is worn? Would that cause the rough running?

Took her to Hardpark, big public car meet up in wellington, only datsun there with 800+ cars! Couple photos attached and I am in serious need of some lowering springs! If anyone has any please let me know!

Re: My 120y sedan project

We also purchased another 120y sedan project... $700 bought us a running, deregd, t boned ratsun.

It has usual datsun rust in the rear # plate valance, behind struts, bottom of doors, and behind front windscreen rubber.

A12 runs mint, little smokey, gear box and diff are sweet. We are 5th owners, originally from taranaki then Wahi for its life. Was sold to a ministock guy who was going to take all running gear. We grabbed it off trademe within 8 hours!

The previous owner fixed the guards and put galvanized tin in.. lol. Not the tidiest pot rivet job.

Chassis isnt bent, sills and a pillar are damaged. Any suggestions?

We now have 3 120ys, will be making a thread for this one soon as it undergoes a full resto
