My 120y sedan project

Managed to pick this up off a truck driving through my town back in 2010. Just a shell that was being scraped (unwanted by ministocker, usual story). Was initially bought for a parts car for dads 120y sss. As time went by was discovered the shell was stronger than thought. Tracked the interior down and sadly the running gear was removed by ministockers. However found some more on trademe. Has been sitting since, gathering dust as we moved down from Tauranga to Carterton Wairarapa.

Work started back last year in September. Tracking down parts and other necessary bits to put back together. Fixed rust in the engine bay, which was on either side of the strut towers. Welded in patched and repaired. Looks new

Recently sanded back and prepd engine bay, boot and door shuts. Now painted with original Datsun green colour.

Running gear has all been sprayed and underbody has been undersealed with new stuff. The running gear has all been put back in, so is currently a rolling body :D

Working on getting the motor in soon, waiting for new engine mounts to arrive. Have installed new clutch and managed to get a standard 4 speed box to go back in, which seems ok. When the mounts arrive ill work on getting the engine (a12 standard, single carb) in and running (hasnt been started for 15 years).

Eventually will be a SSS replica with further engine and suspension modifications. Have another a12 that will eventually be worked to include dellortos, cam and head work.

After that will organise panel beater to sort out some rust in the right rear of the roof and fix any little areas. Body is reasonably straight.

PS the guy before me started sanding the body and the ministocker left it outside :x

Any suggestions, comments or tips welcome

love the lush original colour.

Looks like you and the old man have done some damn good work in short space of time.

love the clean look of decent clean up & thick coat of underseal, coupled with the fresh door jambs & engine bay.

Looks like a bloody good example - sick to think this was going to get scrapped - damn ministock datsun rapists!

Going to spray the rear, top of doors and front matt black like the sss model. Will have the black pin stripe too
