EOI - South Canterbury Summer Sunday Cruise

Trying to get my $hit together and organize a casual local cruise…. Been thinking about it / talking bout it for ages…..

Have talked to a couple of locals that could be keen, but thought I would post up here, and see if anyone from Oamaru, Ashburton or even Chch etc may be keen to join in.

Was thinking a casual Sunday family friendly cruise might be the go, probably mid-late January. I know a few locals like Peggy, Kev & Simon will no doubt need some notice to get their cars WOF’d!

Was thinking mid-late January, as I know Rakaia cruise is fast approaching in mid February. However if this doesn’t pan out, may be mid-march as it can be a bit of a pre cruise to the great southern cruise.

My idea was to perhaps head up Pareora Gorge through to Cave, then through to Fairlie and may be grab lunch from the awesome Fairlie Bakehouse, cruise out to lake Opuha for lunch & stretch the legs, then cruise back through Geraldine-fairlie highway to Geraldine, then east out towards Rangitata, and park up @ chequered flag for a couple of ales in the arvo – then back to Timaru. Round trip approximately 200km

Any comments / feedback appreciated

Sounds Awesome Kitch, keep us informed, some new roads would be good :D
Great idea and good to see areas getting cruises going, I think this is a great use of the Forum. We had a smaller turn out to our cruise on Sunday, I didn't enjoy the Drive and yarn any less :) It was good just to get out with some other Datsuns and drive, park up, Yarn and drive.

Sounds like a good plan, almost tempting to come down for it depending on when it is.

And yeah what Vaughan said, good to see cruises getting planned in other areas.

Any advances on the cruise? Numbers?
I'm keen as just need the date and will lock it in.

Guess it may depend on when a certain white sunny is legal beagle! ;)

Kev

With the red 310's wof running out this week, will be pending roadworthy on the white one.
But get your ute legit for Rakaia anyways!

I think in reality, will bump it till after Rakaia if workable

All good man,

Just checked the date for Rakaia cruise and it has fallen on my boys 5th birthday party :(
The ute is good to go but shame its on the same day as I would have been keen for a cruise up there.

Haha yeah that would be cool :) Could have a bit of trouble fitting all his little friends on the back of the ute along with all the family coming from out of town.
Could always put the bouncy castle on a trailer
