anyone have a 78 79 datsun sunny coupe dash cluster?

i have the coupe dash in my car an dont know why the rev counter has stopped working, the needle moves when starting the car but thats about it nothing when its running?
any ideas if not after anougher dash cluster with the factory rev counter.

i have meter'd all the conections to the revcouter,coil,balest resistor beeps everywhere has a circut..
the only time it moves is when ya turn the car or it bounces.. so anyone know how to test it or when to know its fkd?

Does it move when you're cranking the key Andy?
They run an inductive loop tacho. So maybe it's only seeing power when you have the crank feed live- and the ballast bypass feed is hot?

hey bart, no it doesnt im sure it used to bounce when moved the key but doesnt anymore just does a little tink..bounce.. when you turn the key off

i just held the meter on the red wire thats the loop of the back of the tacho an turned the key its getting about 13 14V when running..so bit confused to why its not running?

Maybe your tacho is shot? There is a loop in the dash that goes through the tacho. If it's unplugged, the car wont go.
Perhaps take it to E parrot and son in St Asaph st?

i see theirs a red wire of the back of the tacho to that goes to the dash cluster,thats the one i tested for voltage..is their anyway they can fix that factory tacho?id like to keep that one an it just does my head in when drive it an its not working haha
