Put the grill on. Spent about an hour trying to find the correct pan head bolts and tube spacers to fit it but that’s my one job for the night.

Today I mounted the front mirrors. Wasn't too happy drilling into the guards though! Also grommeted the firewall.
Started swapping over the covered door cards for the new blank ones. The covered ones had foam that was too think causing me issues.

What are you going to do for door trims? New reproduction vinyl covers?

I was trying to get Lewis to sort me out some door panels but he is too busy.

I'm thinking I will get them covered the same as the ones they are replacing but without the foam. Then when the car is all running and everything is sorted long term I can sort out redoing the whole interior.

This weekend I finished replacing all of the door cards.

Whilst the passenger door card was off I fixed the door mechanism that was not closing properly. The spring for the door catch mech was poked so fixed that and made it better than ever.

I fixed a massive fuel leak coming from the tapered brass fittings connected to my Carter lift pump. Used Permatex Form-a-gasket No 3 because it is resistant to gas.
Then I put the pump back in and double clamped it replacing the single spring clamp.

Then fitted the last door window chrome.

NPTF threads are meant to seal without any sealant, now you’ve got me worried about my Carter pump too.

That hose clamp end sitting millimetres from your wiring is a bit scary too in light of that fuel leak!

What I thought, but a wee check online and people use sealant on it for the same reason.

Agreed. I'll move to some body clips some time soon.

Leak is all sorted since the sealant has been on.

Small list of things to do so will spend the next couple weeks going through them. Should be legal soon.

Today I fitted a terralink speed probe into my speedo cable. My greabox and speedo are cable driven but I needed a speed sensor because:
1. Launch control and anti lag
2. Gear by gear boost control
3. Disable door poppers when car is moving.

Fairly straight forward process.

1. I removed the cable from the car and pulled the speedo cable from the sheath about 50cm.

2. Cut the cable housing. 3. Measures the size of the probe so I can cut away enough cable sheath so the over all length remained the same (the speedo cable isn’t going to change in length so we need to cut that much out to compensate for the probe length being added in). 4. Cut back outside of the casing and fit the end bits. 5. Fed the cable back in the car because the ends wouldn’t fit through the firewall hole so the gearbox end of the split cable needed to be finished in the car.

6. Slid the drive cable back through the probe and used the hex key to clamp the cable at each end of the probe so when the cable turns, the barrel inside the probe turns to generating the signal.
Now it is ready for wiring.

I've since driven it almost daily, put dents in it, taken it down south and now the motor, box and subframe are about to be removed for some upgrades before Nats.
