Re: Josh's 1978 Datsun Sunny, Diff in the back y0!

The lady wont admit liability and the car will not be repaired under insurance. Took a bit of aggression out on the rear panel tonight and popped it out a bit, still pretty fucked. When I get a chance ill cut the boot-lock panel out and make a new one, tear the rear panel down a bit and chew out the cracked previous repairs.

On Saturday morning I was fairly blocked in by cars at the league grounds down ther street, was looking for a gap to escape and rolled into the bullbars of a Bighorn and blew the brake light lense out and bent the bumper again. Wasnt a big impact, just brittle shitty Datsun. Brendan,or course has a spare Lamp. Concidering the tail light assembly is twisted under tension from the initial crash, it would have taken a moth to fart on it and it would have broken anyway.

Did manage to take down an old Legacy on the passing lanes, I had 5 ppl and a boot load of pallets!

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

I whacked up this airbox for the thing, been far too long running un-filtered.
Thought i would throw it on for the day to see what it sounded like without the front portion on...and it wont rev out! Its ok but boggy until about 4000, then cunny detonation sounds ensue. Gah.
Any Ideas?

Tried to rotate pictures but it wont stay 'tated so just tilt your swede

Hey Josh did you have velocity stacks on before you fitted the filter? Are they fitted now? Have you run it with the filter in place? Have you retuned the carbs once the filter is fitted?
I once tried to ram feed air into my 40's, had a similar looking air box, (No where near as tidy, nice job BTW), the air pressure inside the air box effects the carbs, I had to make some holes near the rear to relieve the pressure, this obviously won't work for you, as filtration is your objective.

I think larger air mass pre Carb. is the key

No, just ran them completely open. The front has not been fitted to the airbox, as my plan hit a snag when my forearm exceeded 3in pipe the filter fastens to and couldnt bolt to carbs! haha, dick. Didnt touch the tune as was satisfied previously.

It really dropped the induction howl, and i think it would be even quieter with filter on..this I dont really like. Definately felt like it was choked for air.

I may just run some gauze over the faces and sandwich it in place with some panel steel flanges. It wont be ideal, but it will keep the insects out.

I put about 1200km on the car last weekend and went without a hitch, was returning about 480km per fill on 91, driving was spirited where corners were concerned

GRRRRRRRRRRR FUCK YOU SUNNY

I was really hung-over and lost my phone on Sunday. so i decided to work on my car.
Thanks to Z181200 for the exhaust and Mint16 for the headers.

Ever since its been leaking and fucking me about. Id like to add also, that twin carbs are a whore to work around.
Because the flange thickness of the manifold and the headers is different, I had to build up the headers so the shared washers and stud would clamp up. I didnt really discover this on sunday, smashed it back together so i could get to work in the morning and Im guessing thats when I bent four studs across the bottom.

So ill be at Akaroa, its just going to have a mad leak #4 at the head, pipe touching the floor and probably the diff too.

BUT! It does appear to go better now it can breathe..ALMOST not a complete waste of a weeks evenings by the time its closer to being sorted.

If it aint broke, dont fix it
