I have had my 510 now for about 4.5 years and it is now finally time to build her like I want to. Will be starting the build in a couple of months so thought I would start up a build thread as I have collected a lot of parts already.
Pictures of her when I bought her 4.5 years ago:
Since I bought it I have removed the subs, installed new shocks and springs as the original ones were not captive and I have installed new semi-sealed headlights.
Will be doing a bare metal respray, new wheels and suspension/brakes, new interior a new engine (staying L series). Watch this space as I work through the journey

Has an L18 with a top mounted carb. Full exhaust. 5 speed manual gear box. Everything else pretty standard.

Very cool.
Looks good now. Does it look like there is much rust in it now?

Yeah, it is getting rust coming through. The roof and boot is starting, as well as the rear quarters. Both guards have rust, one being real bad.
My plan was to buy a 1600 that had good bones and when the rust started coming through to do a full rebuild

Re: Mark's Datsun '69 510 Build
Thanks Shane.
Small update: I have my cert guy coming over on Monday to my place to see the car and discuss my plans moving forward (mainly around suspension options and the new engine). I feel getting him involved early on is key for a swift cert at the end.
I will try put up some pics over the weekend of the goodies I have collected thus far. Hopefully start taking the engine out in about 2 weeks.
