1200 coupe camber plates

Post by _smp_ »

Hey guys, keen for advice on camber plates.

I'm now over the darty nature of the old girl and tbh it's not feeling all that safe. Very skittery on rough surfaces and heaps of play in the wheel too. Have yet to adjust the play out and fitting a smaller steering wheel could help I guess.

Set up currently: 14x7 wheels with +12 offset.
Standard struts with 30mm lower king springs, standard leafs at rear.
New ball joints tie rods etc. cross rod ok.
280zx rotors may have increased front track a little.

Was thinking of getting some adjustable castor rods to help tracking, but then that doesn't help camber and may stress the LCAs.

Thinking of now getting camber and castor adj plates.

Question is, can i use these with the standard struts?
Can I modify the top hats or delete entirely? Also with the loss of the rubber isolator, will the ride be rough as guts?

Keen for any recommendations, cheers

take it for a wheel alignment and get them to set it up properly and then can tell you if you want more of this to do this etc

Ah, yeah. Wheel alignment done, can't do much with only the toe Jesse.

I know I need more castor, slight neg camber would also be beneficial.

Keen to hear of others experiences and if camber plates can be used with stock struts or if I have to go full noise custom coilovers blah blah...

Cheers

This page should have all the info you're after

The way I see it is if you want upgrade further from shorter shocks and lowering springs then the next step is adjustable suspension. There's no real point in using camber plates if you aren't going to go adjustable. It will raise the height and be a pain to get all the right pieces anyway.

I don't see it as a waste of time just to do adjustable top hats, and in my honest opinion its really cheap and easy...........
