Had a look, looks at glance would do the trick, looks like a factory RWD with a FWD linkage, will look into the box as to internals compared to other RWD boxes

ALSO nosing round trademe, anyone dealt with this trader and used his modified looms?

Username "Datsunboy" on here has done a few looms too. He used to sell CA18det easy wire looms too.
I don't know if he still has the time to do looms for people or not? Or if he can match that price.
Still that's not bad money really. I would ditch the column shift too. With a Torquey modern engine like an SR, you're going to want a floor shift. I hear what your Dad is saying about originality and Value. But the J15 and column change don't enhance anything about the vehicle.

To be honest how is a linkage a system, worst than direct link in the floor?
my na vr6 golf puts out on average about 25% more torque in factory form than a factory sr20det, and still works great with linkage, and its getting a twin turbo setup

Column shift and a console mounted gearstick are two different things, and there is probably 20 odd years between the two vehicles. If you are keen on missing shifts and grinding gears then by all means keep the column shift, but it has very few advantages over a floor shift.

If you dont like column cos of missing gears thats allgood, but I learnt to drive in my uncles column shift b1600, then my first car as a teen was a escort with a naffed clutch so had to learn to rev match double clutch. so column shifting doesnt phase me, or cos me problems, and I like the look

you can get a rwd 5 speed column change to fit. You need to do a bit of mix and match but its not too hard.

Im 75% through converting my 3 speed manual column wagon to 5 speed. I have used mostly early d21 navara z16 parts. with an L series bellhousing.

You could use the sr20 front housing, and internals, mixed with a navara outpur shaft, selector forks, and rear housing. you will have to make a new driveshaft, but if you have the 2 piece d21 item, its long as and can be shortened easily.

i will have some photos up when im finished
