I'm no expert but I'd try using a small tungsten and thin filler rod, the bead looks quite wide to me, unless the fit up gaps were quite wide?

Yeah I'm using thicker filler than I prob should be, just because i have a huge amount of 2.4mm filler i got cheap off trademe, so just practising with that, but i have about 1kg worth of 1.6mm Filler so will use that when im happy enough with welding practice and when i weld my actual piping

I use 2.4mm tungsten and 1.6 filler. Also clean the shit out of your immediate weld area with some scotch brite or a wire brush then clean the parts with brakekleen or acetone (and keep your hands and bench etc clean, that way your welds will be nice and clean and glossy. Aluminium absorbs all the shit in the material and discolors the weld. Also if you get your gaps spot on you will find it heaps easier to keep a consistent weld pool. The aim of the game is to keep a even width, spacing and wire dip so each ripple looks identical. So get comfortable and steady and clamp your work so it cant move. every little thing helps. A lot of it is finding what works for you really
Then just practice practice practice :D

So pulled my motor out last weekend, will put a custom lifted&winged sump on to prevent further sump damage as this is the 3rd sump to start leaking lol. Also going to Kenelly cams to get cams done and fit them up while its on the engine stand before tune happens, will also inspect big ends while sumps off to see how they're holding up so far.

Latest pair of wheels to add to my SSR collection

At this stage unlikely to as still want to fit up a sway bar and have front wheel aligned before I try make it go round corners too quickly, waiting on sump to go in before sort a swaybar to fit around it. Also planing on redoing dump pipe and exhaust in stainless now that I'm starting to get somewhere with stainless TIGing. So will try knock out the last batch of modifications for tune before reassembling & driving it again
