vehicle history listing?

Post by KSpatz »

Hi, I know I've heard there is some way to check the history of a second hand vehicle in NZ, but does anyone know the link to the website where you can check and what info you need on the car?
A mate of mine is looking to buy a second car soon, so I said I'd see what I could find. Always good to know what you can before you buy!

Thanks
K.

http://www.carjam.co.nz ?

You'll need the number plate and a credit card if you want the ownership history.

I thought that there was a way to get that free through the freedom of information act via some sort of transport authority?

You've always had to pay as far as I know, even at the Post Office. They've limited what information you can get now, from memory it's names and locations in the country, not specific addresses or contact details.

Unless you have a hook up at a post shop or something their is no way to get the information for free.

The report is only $9 or so from Carjam but I don't think it gives complete names or addresses anymore. If he/she really wants to know before buying the vehicle, it's not a lot to spend.
