BADHAB|T's HR30 Skyline Coupe

Post by BADHABIT »

Ok, its not quite a 'Datsun' but its bloody old enough to be well out of the 'modern' Skyline age bracket!
Some brief specs of it;
1986 HR30 manual coupe running an L20ET which had some fairly serious work done to it in the past (head work, intercooler, full exhaust etc)
I purchased this back in May knowing it had a blown turbo, the plan was simple - bolt on a replacement turbo and get it running reliably again! Knowing any modern Skyline turbo will bolt on because Nissan used a T3 flange on the L20ET I thought it would be simple - which it more or less was! But I wasn't overly impressed with the performance and with the L20 overfuelling like a bitch (possibly an engine management issue with a much larger than factory turbo on there) I decided to go completely stupid on it. I purchased a complete road legal manual R32 GTS-t with the goal of just doing an engine conversion. That plan soon changed and I decided to go all out and now plan to install pretty much as many R32 parts as I can;
RB20DET
5 Speed Box
RB25DET Series 2 R33 turbo
Full 3" turbo back exhaust
Driveshaft
4 pot front brakes, 2 pot rears & 5 stud hubs
Complete dash, center consol, switches
Entire R32 loom - engine and dash looms
S13 adjustable suspension
FMIC including a piping kit for an RB20DET (I have opted for a 600 x 280 x 76mm cooler core)
Full alloy radiator
Front facing plenum
Possibly some other goodies too
This should get me around the 180rwkw +
Hopefully it can all be up and running before summer (this year!)
The dash and center consol is now in the R30, yet to be mounted properly but it fits..... now!
I had to do this project cos I lost my old R33 25-t in a major crash last year I really miss the power and torque. And an R30 chassis is definately something a little different!
Some pics are at;

And just for shits and giggles here are some pics of my olds R33 (this was my daily driven project before the crash)
(the topic says 'members rides and projects' so this was my old project :P )
It was only lightly modified but was a bloody bullet due to the amount of torque it produced;
R33 GTR front mount & R.I.P.S. piping kit
HKS Super Drager 3.5" exhaust, 5" tip
IMPUL 17" rims (17x9 rear / 17x8 front)
Cold air intake and box
GAB coilovers
GReddy Profec B Spec 2 Boost controlller
Full bodykit
One hell of an audio system! & much more

Converted, pfft! Nissan has been in my blood for many years! I think it stared when I was a kid and my old man had a 1985 Maxima. 2ltr V6 turbo. I loved that thing haha. Besides I'm still yet to go to the dark side and own an actual Datsun haha (as close as my R30 is)

can someone please make those pictures visible in the thread? I like pictures, but I'm too lazy to click on each one, and then click on the back button etc.

Bartman : I tried going through photobucket but it cuts the image in half even after resizing it. Maybe someone else can copy my pics and rehost them somewhere else?! I tried imageshack and its not allowing me to upload. Stupid computers!
