It's probably not the best way to attack things to be honest , doing it that way will involve a lot more welding than doing just one patch.
I'm guessing you don't have a lot in the way of metalshaping gear, how much experience do you have ?
I own a resto shop, and have experience with those bonnets , if your not carefull you could make the situation worse, post a picture of the rust when you have bare metalled it, and I'll try and advise you on the best way to fix it.

here is where I got to today.
I think the bonnet for me is going to end up with a pro. The under side is shitty right on the where the 2 top skin and frame meet together.
I just don't have the tools or understanding to do a good job. I'll likely never find another bonnet so I better do it right. A few more pics.

Glad I'm not the only one who always seems to find bronze used for repairs from back in the day.

Nice to see this is still around and getting some love, it's definitely one of the nicest condition 330's I've seen.

yea i'm getting scared but. Id say all the doors have just been filled and not repaired. I'm right on the cusp of deciding to wizz all the doors down on the bottom 1/4 just to see what exactly went on.
The one thing I do know is the filler /bog is this white stuff it's amazing. It's held really well and its very strong unlike that pink crap.

Whats the best filler going around these days ? Things have changed since I last chicken wired a wheel well into a escort when I was 15. HAha

Big Datsun saga 2020

Been working fairly constantly since the last update. I can sort of see this starting to come together now.
Been busy with rust. It's been ok. Just a few bits that have been a bit tuff but mostly its all real fiddly little bits.
under is not bad enough for media blasting. so it's buff clean and primer. Hard work on my back.

It's all just been sorting stuff best I can like I removed 1 m of fuel line from the car because the fuel pump was installed backwards. Weird :( :(

remaking this was not fun a few attempts
Image

both corners all had to be remade. All double skin and it's as good as I could hope for
Image

new longer wheel studs. Thankfully I didn't have to remove axels out of backing plates they only just slide in. Image

still not straight yet. but you get where this is all going. It's off soon for the bonnet rust and some painting soon. Finding blocking the panels a dog I fill it then sand it all out. Cant get the hang of it.

Yeah it's not bad at all. It was just a cover up with bog job that got us threw to this point. Fairly lucky really H330's are right up there with Crowns I reckon

I fully hear you, had a go at my 1200 for a couple of weeks, apart from polished metal and bog splatter you can't tell I even started, think I need some tuition.
