Cams 1973 Datsun 1200 Coupe

Post by iamkiwiana »

Picked up my b110 coupe back in 2015, started working away on it after only a month of owning it, wanted it painted up and looking nice so i decided to strip her back to bare metal and remove all rust

Nice job , have you considered removing the skin from the frame to allow you to planish the weld from both sides , it's not to difficult if you take your time , then you can wheel the repair back through the English wheel and have a file finished repair. Keep the progress pictures coming.

Havn't thought of that, was contemplating removing the skin and making a new one and then welding the handle piece on but wanted to keep as much of the original metal there as possible, ome day if the car ever ends up getting a good dent i might do what you said but for now a little filler will be fine, cheers for your input :)

If you wanted to make a new skin I have a pair of dies I made for my pullmax that does all the top profile in one go, check out my build thread 2 doors 2 door, I made new skins for mine. where are you working ? sounds like you have some decent gear at your work.
