Fair enough. I risked it all. Would've been bad if something happened!

Fact sheet 29 states that you can tow a vehicle that has been register in NZ even if it is no longer in the system, so you could get a flat tow it that is easy enough, then Drive home.
Just a thought to save a Trailer, which would be a pain.

Why not just register the car under A class rego , which allows a vehicle to be driven from points a to b for the purpose of repair or obtaining work required to get a vehicle roadworthy , then contact insurance and explain you would like to be covered while partaking in said journey , no different than having no warrant on the way to the warrant shop.

I decided ill just trailer it in just to save the headache if things go wrong. On a bigger front Donn text today asking for the ownership papers for the car to confirm the chassis number but i havnt got one. Turns out some lazy idiot an NZTA entered the chassis number in but missed the "HGS130" part at the front so it didnt match up when they checked it. So Donn has entered the short number for the tag to be stamped with just have to make sure at wofs they dont bring it back up. And ive had the dash out since friday rewiring the heater controls, fingers crossed it works.

Its road legal!!!!! Got the tag this afternoon then trailered to get the WOF. I've been driving it all afternoon. Went to Littleton then back up over dyers pass. It drives so good just a couple of small things to sort. One brake pad is rubbing on the rotor so that just needs the caliper bracket machined back. The exhaust is real low so I've scraped a few times already. And the gearbox is rumbling unfortunately but itll last hopefully.
