Hi all,

Been lurking around for a while so I thought I'd post a few pictures to document my Datsun ownership.

For now this will likely be kinda dormant as Im finishing off study this year but hopefully next year will have more time, money and a garage to commit to restoring my 120y to some degree.

Got it in a reasonable state and has been a good runner for me when I do use it;

It got me Welly-Auck both ways around Christmas last year without too much of a hassle, apart from using up all the oil, loosing the front "D" badge and the faulty thermostat constantly telling me it was overheating when I drove with the lights on.
Then, while parked up outside my house one day this happened;

luckily the "lady" felt bad and left her insurance details so it didnt cost me a cent, apart from the hassle of coming in to the panel shop on about three different occasions over the period of at least a month, most of the time spent without a front bumper and the indicator lights+no. plate held on by cable ties :lol:

I got some new wheels earlier this year so now it looks more like this;

and a silly flavour pic from my phone outside my work;

atm it is getting some rust taken out for the good ole' WOF, after which is still needs some suspension work.

Should be taking another cruise towards Auckland mid September :)

Cheers. In terms of plans Im looking to do restoration type work to it; body, engine, interior need varying levels of TLC; I'll see where my funds take me :)
At the moment I lurk around trademe, ebay and the forums looking for small things I can buy and collecting pictures of ideas for paint, seats etc. :thumbsup: I would really love to get my hands on are some louvres for the back window and SSS style front seats as well

Paint wise it used to be blue before (and white from the factory I think, judging by the engine bay colour) which still shows on the inside of the doors, I kinda like that colour so Im thinking a semi-gloss blue for the body at some stage.

Getting into the RWC spirit (not)
Image

Thought Id post a few more of my hoarded goodies;

Some alternatively upholstered back seats, also with better springs/stuffing than my current ones. Need some TLC
Image

2x new gear knobs off Ebay- looked pretty cool but unfortunately they amplify the vibrations in the gear stick into quite a bad plastic-y sound around 2000-3000rpm while in gear.. I guess I'll fit the original one back on until I think of something
ImageImage

Got a "Datsun" branded rocker cover off Trademe- as opposed to my current one saying "Nissan". This was on some guy's racing modified engine though and apparently the tappets have dented the cover over time, so will need to smooth out those dents somehow before fitting. Also I heard that chromed rocker covers aren't particularly smart as they trap in more heat..

And these Ive head for a while- need some TLC before eventually fitting them on

Loving the rear seats. My first car was that colour, inside and out!!!
Have you tried stuffing some paper up the thread hole in the gear knob so it tightens firm, may help noise.

How tight are your gear shifter bushes? They're well known to slog out. And aren't very expensive new. (PM birdflu if you'd like a price, he works for nissan)

I get the same vibration, put it down to the fact the bushes were gone; so lathed up one steel ones - therefore nothing to absorb the shock.

I also tried Nissan for the bushes new but no good.

The sunrise shifter is ruling!!
