Hey guys thanks for the feedback we're in auck the car has had a mixture of soda blasting roof, boot and bonnet garnet blasting for inside , underneath and engine bay to etch the metal also inside the doors for the new skins and also a new skin on left rear quarter and new rear tail light panel a new r/h chassis rail and a new lower radiator support panel, only r/f guard and valance left to finish.
The car as of last weekend has been seam sealed and a anti stonechip applied ,painted underneath, inside and inner boot in datsun mikan orange .
Its been a huge project but i know in the end it will be a totally rust free and very straight
I,ve got a full rubber kit for it all new indicators and door handles plus many many new parts to go on thanks to datsport. If anyone that has a sss boot badge and steering wheel centre that they would like to sell me it would be
very much appreciated as these are the missing pieces of the puzzle.
I'm going to keep it as original as possible with motor etc

Hey Shayne! Can't keep you away from the 1600s huh!

Would you mind me asking what sort of cost is involved in a resto of this scale? Thinking of putting the old girl through something like this (although hopefully not quite as extensive at some stage soon

Cheers

Hey Shannon how's things yeah can't get enough off the mighty 1600's i've got this sss and a one owner low mile blue deluxe as my daily ,
Ok costs so far are rotisserie was $800 (which will be for sale if your interested) .
The soda/garnet blasting which i really do recommend as this gives you the best base to start with was around $2000 but this included blasting everything even inside the doors for the new skins .
And as for the panel beating the car has been done using lead filling all the seams and hammer and file finnish on the rest of the panels with the absolute minimium of filler being used anywhere but has had a huge amount off new steel put into it and there are not many panels that have not been unpicked to ensure a totally rust free shell so were over $20,000 now and still a bit of work to go plus paint ,but its a car that i will pass on to my boys when they grow up so i look at it as a long term investment as it will one of the best sss in nz when finnished .I've got more than 130 photos of the resto and chopper is doing a top job and i would reccomend him as he now knows 1600's inside and out ,i dont think your one would need as much work as mine i just wanted to do once and do it right i hope this helps
