A14 HELP NEEDED !!

Post by iamkiwiana »

Hi all, I have an A14, it came out of an sgx b310, the vin stated it was the 80hp model, but it is a round port h72 ?? is there any differences to the block between the higher and lower hp model A14s? or just the Head ? As I have an h89 head I was planning to put on the block, would this bring a lower hp engine to be the higher hp model? and what modifications would be needed for the head swap ? Thanks for your help :pc:

The blocks will definately be the same.
Most A14's Ive seen had the open combustion chamber H75 (or H72?) heads.
your H89 should be an improvement.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

I would think the cam will be different also, as the low horse power was an economy engine.

How do I find out what head is on my b310s a14, it goes like stink and one of the previous owner's built it, but I have no clue what the head is or what internals it has as the cam is lumpy as and it revs out to 8. Where do I check what head it is?

No need to remove MAnifold to check ports. Oval ones have a water jacket on the bottom of the manifold and are much deeper in the manifold, post up pics if you want, I am sure you will get opinions on which it is without tearing it apart. A pic of the casting will identify it also I would think.
