No I haven't - I plan to strip it on the weekend, but wanted to have any possible parts on the ready so I don't have to wait another week

Sounds like you need to remove the backing plate and run the lower dust cover as the A12 flywheel is thinner than A15. Just been through this with an A12 fly on my A15 with 63a box.

Thanks - I don't have the lower dust cover, so what I have done is:
1. Found another bearing carrier which is about 2mm longer
2. Put an additional washer under the ballpin the release level pivots on
3. Put a small weld on either side of the release level where it contacts the bearing carrier.

From trying to measure distance from the face of the bell housing to the release bearing, and the clutch fingers to the engine plate, it looks like there would be 1-2mm clearance before the clutch is depressed at all. Next step is to out the gearbox back on and test....

I haven't managed to test again yet. The gearbox is in, just a few more bolts to do up, then drop it on the ground and test.

It *seems* to be travelling ok, but guess I won't know until I get it spinning properly.

Ok tested on the weekend and it seems all good now.

The combo that fixed it was a slightly longer bearing carrier and a small weld inside the fork on each side, where it contacts the bearing carrier. I possibly could have put a washer under the pivot instead of the weld.

This means I did get to drive the car a very short way (up the drive) for the first time in about 6yrs (maybe more). Still a lot to do, but a big step forward.
