a12 rich and lean cylinders

Post by 72datsun »

Hi everyone

I just removed and engine out of my 1200 to do oil seal. When i pulled the spark plus out i noticed cylinders 1 and 4 are rich and cylinders 2 and 3 are lean. Its a completely standard engine. Standard carb and manafold etc. Any suggestions on what it could be?

How could you tell?
What condition are your leads?
May not be lean and rich, may be weak spark??
How often does your car get to run hot, without the choke, and get a good blow out?
What was the motor doing just before it was pulled out, what was it's last run?

no 1 and 4 plugs are black and no 2 and 3 plugs are clean
i just got car out of storage 3 or 4 months back. put all new plugs points condenser leads.
It gets a good hot run once every 2 weeks. gets driven at least 2 or 3 time to work a week. work is'nt far away about 5 or 10 min drive. i let it warm up before i go
engine was running very well. never missed a beat. the last run was to work
