NZ Datsun Nationals 25th October 2015 (South Island)

Post by admin »

10 Year Anniversary!

As in the past this years NZ Datsun Club Nationals is going to be held on Labour weekend, with the annual Akaroa Cruise being on Sunday the 25th of October.

Meet:
Halswell bowling club car park, Halswell Rd Christchurch. 9.30am.
Basic meet and greet and pre cruise briefing.
Gold coin donation per car.

Depart:
10am. Please be fuelled up and ready to go.

The first stop is the Hill Top Tavern for a refreshments break (appox 25 mins) and to meet up with those travelling from down South.

Following this, the cruise will be pressing on toward the Akaroa township.
We're going to be parking up on the Akaroa Recreation area for a show and shine.
The club will be having a sausage sizzle, $2 each. We're going to use quality sausages for our BBQ! Plus onions and Tuimato/Watties sauce, bring some coins for a good feed.
Please note - NO ALCOHOL is to be consumed at the Domain - the council bylaw prohibits this - NO EXCEPTIONS guys, please drink responsibly at the tavern only.

After lunch, we'll have voting for the peoples choice award and nominations for most dedicated etc. All those that vote will be given a raffle ticket for the spot prize draw.

Categories are:
People's choice - People can vote for the car they like best

These next three are decided on by the committee but feel free to let us know of anyone you think are deserving of a trophy.
Most dedicated - People can nominate the person they think has been the most dedicated. Travelled the farthest, done the most work/worked hardest on their car to be on the cruise etc (it's up to you guys)
Most Improved - Who's been working hard to get their Datsun better than last year!
Hard luck- Kind of like a booby prize trophy for someone who has 'Hard Luck' on the cruise. So if the vehicle you're in breaks down, or you need to stop and help out a mate along the way, be sure to nominate them for this award!

Once we're done in Akaroa (depending on what time people feel like heading away) the cruise will leave Akaroa and take Long Bay Road (first right out of Akaroa) up to the Akaroa summit road. From there we turn left and drive back to the Hilltop Tavern for the drawing of the spot prizes, and the prize-giving. Ticket holders must be present to claim spot prizes, or prize will be redrawn.

Afterparty
Details to follow.

More info will be added as it comes to hand.

Any persons from the North Island who are planning to drive down, check the discussion here closer to the date. (There will probably be a thread started for a cruise south and Ferry Crossings) Be sure to book your ferry crossing sooner rather than later. The clock is ticking!
Also, any out of towners who require accommodation, reply here also. Hopefully there should be plenty of couches/floor space to roll out a sleeping bag or even beds if you are so inclined, plenty of members locally and they are a friendly bunch, many with off street parking.
