Pleased to hear that you havnt thrown the toys out of the cot as I put it, and even more pleased that there is a chance that the original forum may not be a write off, As it takes me forever to post one picture let alone re-do everything that I had on the forum, before everything crashed.

Can I make a suggestion that I've seen work on other forums?

Load the DOCNZ database into a forum and lock it. Keep a link to it on the main page so it can be used as an archive for searching info. Fixing db errors is a never ending story, this is the only way to move forward.

Start a new fresh database with better forum software (invision power board etc), cost $180 US or similiar to purchase outright and is alot more stable and has better features and support.

With regards to people making donations, this would work if you guys took the next step and created an official car club (DOCNZ), assigned club president, secretary, events co-ordinator etc. Other benefits stream from this, it does take some management, but i'm sure 1 night a month you guys could put aside for a meeting and take meeting notes would work.

I'm going to step out of the other debates as I believe it's not going to get resolved.

Finally, before I'm told i don't know im talking about, I was actually lucky enough to get a chance to meet alot of the christchurch guys and they showed me a great day checking out there projects and a bbq at the end of the day (thanks again guys). Maybe next time I'll get to meet the guys up north...

thats pretty steep for a domain name.....this one was only $13/year.
plus, www.datsun.co.nz is already owned and paid for, its not the domain name that DOCNZ has been having problems.
(from what it sounds like) its the database thats full of errors, which has nothing to do with the domain.

The site should most definately be free, noone seems to have debated that yet.
what people are asking, is if they can donate to help the cause....I see no issues with that.
but definately free to anyone if they want.
Glen never charged anyone for DOCNZ, and it should stay that way.....but donations could be considered
