Re: James Z31 Engine Blueprinting
Thanks Warrick - i appreciate the comments . Its quite time consuming and i wouldn't be able to do this without having some machining skills / being comfortable with micrometers and dial gauges For me its mental stimulation and my relaxing time Work is very stressful and its nice to spend the evenin...

Re: James Z31 Engine Blueprinting
VK56DETT you say ?
It’s got plenty of grunt to enjoy, just needs to work. Aiming for 250kw at the tires . With all the changes I think it’s going to need a proper dyno tune. Don’t want to wreck my new motor

Re: James Z31 Revival
Engine Rebuild is well underway. Its funny because I'm right back to page 1 of this build thread. Quite a lot of measuring and blueprinting going on here. I'm really suffering only having one vehicle and i need this Z Back ASAP, but I'm balancing that by not leaving any stone UN turned - in terms of...

Re: James Z31 Revival
I might take you up on that once its all stripped down. DJ offered me the same in a metric but all of my other mics are imperial so it seemed an idea to stick with one set of units.
I still need to buy one, just not spending $220 + on a brand new one that i wont use very often.

Re: James Z31 Revival
Nothing Yet Bartman Engine is ready to come out, I just have to do the dance of the spacing down the cross member, to get the extended sump out of the way so the thing can actually come out. I'm needing to find a 3-4 Micrometer which I'm having trouble sourcing at a reasonable price. I'm just really...

Re: James Z31 Revival
DJ and I got this thing back in the shed yesterday. I'm going to look at stripping it back down, this weekend and getting the engine out and on the bench. I need to get a 3-4" mic and some standards. From there I am expecting to see some taper in the bore and then i need to decide which pistons...

Re: James Z31 Revival
It sure was Dave ,Very pleased to have the car in one piece and that we didn't put a rod through the block going up Burkes pass.
I was lucky it happened at the Twizel house and not on the road with a foot full of boost up it.

Re: James Z31 Revival
Went for the Hero Pass, got my WOF on Friday at Rocky Auto Had a wee issue getting off the hoist. The exhaust decided to half rip itself off. So it was a bit of a scramble to put it back on and repair the damage while trying not to ruin my office clothes. Had a few more bugs to sort out on Saturday ...
