Re: SSS 1600
It would be a pretty big job to re-shell the car - would someone really have gone to all that effort around the firewall area (keeping in mind that it must have been done a few years ago, before the price skyrocketed) to have a "SSS"? Did this car have the factory tinted (green I think) g...

Re: Datsun 1600 vs Datsun 1200
The 1600 is more sophisticated in terms of design, however a nice 1200 is a delightful car to drive and surprisingly quick with a worked A15 installed. I can't quite be sure of the lap times but that Noddy Murdoch from Timaru was getting around Ruapuna very rapidly in his stock looking 1200. In fact...

Re: Trademe/Yahoo Japan Auctions
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=676683151 So this car is 40 years old, they have owned it for 16 years. Now one of 2 things 1) it sat on a yard for the first 24 years of its life, unsold or 2) It is not a 1 owner vehicle??? My guess is that this is not a one owner vehicle. Guess wha...

Team Legacy Assist Datsun 240Z Targa High Country 2013
Awesomely set-up car, very quick and two podium finishes in the classics. This high definition video is so great to watch. If you compare the same corners in other videos of the same event on this channel, the Datsun is often going far quicker even against modern stuff. And the handling looks sublim...

Re: Trademe/Yahoo Japan Auctions
love how he quotes it as the only one in NZ. Yes I also have one that is registered as 69, as it was sold new after 1 Jan but is actually a 68 model complete with factory tinted windows, correct chassis number below 40,000 stamped in firewall, sss servo syncho gearbox etc. We will watch with intere...

Re: Insurance valuations
With VCC insurance through Vero, it is agreed value. You don't need a valuation and the premium is cheap. I did once try and get a valuation a few year's ago from that guy Penn McKay on Classic Car Magazine who did insurance valuations, but he had no idea what a very good condition original '69 Dats...

Re: Newbie buying first Datsun
You've received some very good advice here I think. Rust is the big risk given the age of these cars now and the lack of rust-proofing when new, so you do need to have this checked out very thoroughly, including bodged repairs and underseal hiding horrors. The mechanicals are pretty durable generall...
